Lesson 4 Exercise
Remeber David, Jaclyn, and Terry from the Lesson 1 Exercise scenarios? For this Lesson 4, we've brought them back!
For this exercise, we will ask you to now identify specific resources, actions, and avenues these individuals can take to utilize the work of Make It. MSP. teams and stay up to speed on future projects. What type(s) of Make It. MSP. resources could assist you in each situation? How would you suggest they stay connected and involved in the initiative's work in a way that is most meaningful to them?

DAVID
David is a human resources professional who relocated to the Greater MSP region last year. A department leader and strong advocate for supporting other professionals of color like himself, David sees an opportunity to help his employer create a more inclusive workplace. He’s looking for a way to start the conversation as well as resources to help make a real positive impact on the organization.
How can Make It. MSP. assist David with workplace inclusion? How can David stay up to speed on other projects aimed at helping professionals of color in MSP? Write your response in the comments below.
JACLYN
Jaclyn is going to be a senior at Michigan State next year where she is studying finance. She landed a dream internship in Saint Paul at one of Make It. MSP.'s corporate partners for the summer, but is nervous about meeting new people and finding ways to spend her free time in a new region. Plus, she is concerned about navigating public transportation, since she won’t be bringing a car for the summer before heading back for her final year of college.
What resources within Make It. MSP. can help Jaclyn prepare for this big change? What kind of Make It. MSP. events could she attend to meet new friends? Write your response in the comments below.
TERRY
Terry, a tech recruiter from Minneapolis, has been in contact with a knock-out software developer named Randy from the Bay Area for over two months now. Randy is excited by the opportunity and he and his wife, Rachel, are open to the idea of moving their family of four to a new city. However, Randy and Rachel have a lot of questions for Terry—understandably so—that could make or break their decision:
What kind of neighborhood would be best for our family? Rachel is a NICU nurse: what opportunities are there in the Greater MSP region for her career and how can she get connected? What do we need to know to make it through our first northern winter?
Where could Terry go to find great Make It. MSP. resources that can help her address Randy's questions? Write your response in the comments below.
